Hi-Wire Brewing continues to recover after Hurricane Helene

WILMINGTON, NC (WWAY) — One brewery in Wilmington is facing an uphill battle to stock their own beer after their brewing facility in Asheville was damaged by Hurricane Helene. 

Asheville-based Hi-Wire Brewing has taprooms throughout the state, including in Wilmington. The facility where the company brews their beer in Asheville’s River Arts District was left devastated by ten feet of flooding. 

The company’s Wilmington location is set to host the opening for the Cucalorus Film Festival next week and provide drinks throughout the festival. 

Co-owner Bryna Frosaker said keeping their beers in stock has been a challenge but one they will recover from. 

“Our distributors have been really helpful. They’ve been able to fill the gaps when we need them, they had some stock when all of this happened, so we were able to send some of that stock to our taprooms as well,” Frosaker said. “So we’re just trying to use all the resources we have available to make sure everyone has what they need to keep our beer in stock as long as possible.” 

Frosaker said if all goes to plan, the Army Corps of Engineers told her running water will be back at the facility sometime in December, which will allow them to brew again.
